The FBI has arrested the man allegedly in charge of the BreachForums online hacking community, as reported earlier Krebs on Security and Bleeping Computer. Conor Brian Fitzpatrick, also known online as “Pompompurin,” was arrested at his New York home on Wednesday and charged with conspiracy to commit access device fraud, according to One pair of court appearances.
In a sworn statement, an FBI agent involved in the case said Fitzpatrick admitted to owning BreachForums at the time of his arrest and identified himself as Pompompurin. Pompompurin created BreachForums after The FBI took over RaidForumsa similar hacking site that also sells leaked information.
The hacker was involved in a number of breaches, many of which targeted the FBI. In 2021, Pompompurin promised a hack that sent thousands fake cybersecurity warnings from FBI email addressesand also linked in violation of Infragardthe FBI’s information sharing program aimed at raising awareness about physical and digital threats to government organizations and independent companies.
The hacking forum was recently involved in the DC Health Link breach
Fitzpatrick was released on a $300,000 bond Thursday and will appear in court in Virginia on March 24, according to Bloomberg.
