Following his successful debut as the titular character in the hit Netflix series Wednesday, Jenna Ortega is reportedly in talks to work with Tim Burton again for the long-awaited beetlejuice 2, which also features the return of its original cast.
Ortega is in discussions to play the daughter of Winona Ryder’s character from the original film, Lydia Deetz, according to Different. Naturally, the sequel will also see Michael Keaton return to his titular role from the 1988 classic.
Given Ortega’s recent success with a show that dives into the world of the occult, perhaps the shoe is fitting – or perhaps it’s textbook typecasting. In fact, the actor said so Wednesday was not the proudest moment of his career.
Beetlejuice 2 It’s been a long time coming, with Keaton and Burton both confirming a script was on the drawing board in 2013, with Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B picking up the film in early 2022. Late last year, it was also confirmed that Catherine O’Hara would also return to the sequel to reprise her role as Delia Deetz..
Much like Pedro Pascal these days, it seems that everywhere you look, there is chatter about Jenna Ortega and upcoming projects that she may or may not be involved with. If you can’t get enough Wednesday star, here’s a friendly reminder that you can catch him Scream VI, in theaters March 10. We’ve seen it, and we thought it was fantastic.
