Jersey City Man Arrested in Virginia for March Homicide


A Jersey City man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Greenville.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Brandon Montague, 24, was arrested today in Newport News, Virginia by the United States Marshals Service.

Montague was charged the death of Tyreef Robinson on March 434, of Jersey City.

Shortly after 10:10 that evening, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a shooting in the area of ​​2 Bergen Avenue. Responding officers found Robinson with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:27 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Officer determined that the Cause of Death was a gunshot wound to the body and bilateral lower extremity and that the method was homicide.

Montague is being held at the Newport News Jail as a Fugitive from Justice pending extradition to New Jersey. He was charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
