At a recent show in Glasgow, Scotland, Lizzo helped a fan get married, and captured the touching moment on the camera!
Lizzo helps a Couple Named Grant and Ryan
Videos shared on social media show the engagement was sparked by the singer noticing a message on the phone of an audience member, saying, “Ask my brother’s girlfriend to marry him. “
Lizzo eventually complied, as she FaceTimed with the fan’s brother—Grant—and handed the phone to the “Truth Hurts” singer.
While on stage, Lizzo continues to talk to the man, Ryan, before revealing that Grant has a big question for her.
Grant then asks Ryan to marry him, and—while she’s “too stunned to speak”—she accepts.
Lizzo then shared a congratulatory message and encouraged the audience before putting the phone back on and continuing with her show.

He’s Not Afraid to Share His Spotlight
While on the subject, we have to point out another instance of Lizzo sharing the stage to allow others to bask in the spotlight.
Count The Shade Room previously reported, the artist was recently honored with the People’s Champion Award in late 2022. While accepting the award—presented by Shari Johnson-Jefferson, her proud mother—Lizzo went on to welcome seventeen prominent activists on stage .
“Being an icon is not about how long you’ve had your platform. Being an icon is what you do on that platform. And since the beginning of my career, I’ve used my platform to amplify marginalized voices. So, tonight I share this honor. Make noise for the people, y’all!”
Lizzo introduced each of the activists while giving a brief run-down of their causes. Honorees included Shirley Raines of Beauty 2 The Streetz, Amariyanna “Little Miss Flint” Copenny, and Tamika Palmer—mother of Breonna Taylor.
After sharing the stage with these seventeen activists, he heartily exclaimed, “The power is always in the people!”
Shoutout to Lizzo for helping Grant propose to Ryan, and we wish the couple all the best!
