Cynthia Erivo as DCI Odette Raine
DCI Odette Raine was the detective in charge of Luther’s old unit when he was inside. She is played by Oscar-nominee Cynthia Erivo, a screen and stage star with an incredible singing voice. Erivo played the lead role of Harriet Tubman in the 2019 biopic Harrietwith Aretha Franklin in Genius (we said the girl can sing), Holly in The Outsidethe voice of the Blue Fairy in Guillermo del Toro’s animated film Pinocchio and will play Elphaba in the film adaptations of the hit Wizard of Oz musical bad.
Thomas Coombes as Archie Woodward
DS Archie Woodward is played by Thomas Coombes, a familiar screen face who has appeared in a host of TV and film roles, most notably playing Goz in two series of the Sky drama rescue methe police in a key scene at the end of the Bill Nighy film Lifethe health inspector in the taut, tense restaurant movie Boiling point (soon to become a BBC TV series), as well as roles in The White House Farm Murders, A Confession, Endeavor, Lucky man, Knightfall, Silent Witness etc.
Hattie Morahan as Corinne Aldrich
Corinne Aldrich, the mother of an abducted child, visits Luther in prison at the beginning of The Fallen Sun starting with the Netflix feature film. She is played by Hattie Morahan, who memorably played Jane, the tearful neighbor of the Brockman family in the BBC comedy Outnumberedbut was more recently seen as Lady Tewkesbury on Netflix’s Enola Holmes, Channels 4 The Undeclared War, Amber in Episode of Shakespearean poetry of Inside No. 9 and Agathe at Disney’s 2017 Beauty and the Beast. She also provides the voice of Helen Sinclair in Who is the doctor? Doom Coalition podcasts.
Lauryn Ajufo as Anya Raine
Anya is the teenage daughter of DCI Cynthia Erivo (see above) who finds herself in a dangerous situation in The Fallen Sun. He is played by both Boiling point actor (see Thomas Coombes, above) Lauryn Ajufo, who recently appeared in Netflix’s YA robot sci-fi adventure series The Last Bus and ITVX teen mental health drama Tell Me Everything. He is attached to star in an upcoming Netflix series The Fuck-It Bucket.
Vincent Regan as Dennis McCabe
An underworld associate of Luther’s since his days on the force, Dennis plays a key role in the early part of The Fallen Sun. He is played by Vincent Regan, a familiar face in the crime drama recently seen on The Bay, Trace, Before We Die, snatch, and Undercover as well as historical dramas Poldark, Victoria, The White Princess, Atlantis and many others in his last three decades on screen.
Dan Li as Wong
Comedy fans may recognize Dan Li from the Johnny Vegas sitcom That’s right or multiple episodes in children’s series Horrible Historieswhile fans of the BBC drama may know him from the 2021 submarine spy drama Staying awakecourtroom drama You do not know mepsychological thriller The Former1980s-set true crime series The goldor 2013 Who is the doctor? episode’The Bells of St. John‘. Li also appeared in Ken Loach’s acclaimed 2016 film I’m Daniel Blake and providing the voice of Yong Bao in many versions of Thomas the Tank Engine.
