A Jersey City man was arrested after allegedly filing a false claim with his auto insurer.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Issa Almaet, age 41, claimed the damage to a 2014 Jeep Cherokee occurred after purchasing an insurance policy with GEICO. Suarez said Almaet intentionally concealed the fact that the damage occurred in a collision before the policy was purchased.
Almaet was arrested yesterday by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit.
Almaet is charged with one count of Insurance Fraud.
He was released pending his first court appearance at the Central Judicial Processing Court tentatively scheduled for March 23.
