Plainfield Council Approves National Girl Scout Day Resolution with Local Troops in Attendance


PLAINFIELD, NJ — Plainfield council voted to approve a resolution recognizing March 12, 2023, as National Girl Scout Day 2023, commemorating the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low organized the first Girl Scout meeting. Local troop members were in attendance to receive awards.

RESOLUTION RECOGNITION OF MARCH 12, 2023, AS NATIONAL GIRL SCOUT DAY CELEBRATING 111 YEARS OF SERVICE

WHEREAS, the Girl Scout Movement was founded on March 12,1912, in Savannah, Georgia, by Juliette Gordon Low, whose mission in life was to develop girls with the courage, confidence, and character to make this a better place the world; and

WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the United States of America has emphasized public service, civic engagement, and fostering a sense of community among girls nationwide for more than a century;

WHEREAS the Girl Scouts believe in sisterhood, justice, and fairness by committing to making the world a more equal place for all women, regardless of their race, ethnicity or religion; and

WHEREAS, the City of Plainfield is home to Girl Scout Heart of NJ Troops 40316, 40263, 40643 and Division of Parks and Recreation Troop 40954; therefore, be it
