Scenes from the 2023 Union County St. Patrick's Day Parade

UNION, NJ – Despite the threat of snow, it was a typical March day weather-wise and a good day for the general Irish in Union County St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 11.

State Senator Joe Cryan led the marchers as grand marshal and was followed by numerous pipe bands, uniformed officers, and community groups mostly from Union County. However, there are bands from Essex and Morris Counties, as well as New York state, and County Roscommon, the ancestral home of the Cryan clan. Miss New Jersey and a large group of NJ State Police officers were on hand, as was former Gov. Jim McGreevey.

Scotch Plains and Fanwood were among the participants that included County Commissioner/Scotch Plains Township Manager Al Mirabella, Scotch Plains fire chief John Lestarchick, and students from Union Catholic High School, who carried Irish County banners.
